• This course is for teachers to share ideas and resources related to Language and Methodology
  • Course content

10 hours per week of Language Development work, and 10 hours per week of TEYL methodology.

In the language classes we would expect to place particular emphasis on the development of participants’ pronunciation, spoken fluency and listening skills, making full use of opportunities offered by the English-speaking environment.

The methodology component should be very practical, and we would expect participants to return to Japan with a file of materials to use in their own classrooms, including materials based on songs and chants.

In the second week, we will also include tutorial time for participants to receive from their tutors individual advice and guidance on keeping up their language development after the course.

    Special requirements

Most participants seem to be ‘across the curriculum’ elementary school teachers who are involved in teaching English to young learners. However, there is one specialist English teacher in the group.
